Tim Kripps Principal/Teacher Grades 6- 8

A former student was kind enough to draw this picture of me.  I have the privilege of teaching grades 6- 8 and of being the principal of SVAS.  I was raised in Phoenix, Arizona.  Angeliqua, my wife, is a graduate of SVAS class of 1987.  She then went onto to Newbury Park Academy for a year and then to AZ where we met at Thunderbird Adventist Academy and graduated from there in 1991.

My BS is in Social Science from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas.  While teaching in Las Vegas, I completed my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Currently I am working on my Doctorate at La Sierra University in Riverside.

During my 10 year teaching career, I have had the pleasure of teaching all subjects in all grades 4-8 .  My wife and I have lived in Des Moines, Iowa, Las Vegas, Nevada, and here.  Angeliqua currently works in the Trust Office at the Adventist Media Center.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, watching sports, or reading.  My favorite sports to watch are basketball, football and baseball.  I have not yet converted to being a fan of any of the California teams although I am slowy converting back to my childhood favorite team, the Dodgers.  My favorite teams are the Phoenix Suns, AZ Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the AZ Cardinals.

Andrea Mattison Teacher Grades 3-5

I have lived in California all my life- started out in Southern California, and have slowly migrated north with my family over the years. I went to high school in Central CA, and then on to Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley. I received both my BA in Liberal Studies, and my Masters of Education, at PUC. My first teaching job in Oxnard (Linda Vista SDA Elementary) brought me back down south. I taught kindergarten for my first 4 years and then a k/1 combination class for the last 3 (A+ Adventist Children’s Center). I recently moved from Glendale, to Simi Valley to join the staff here. This is my first experience with grades 3-5 but I love it!!!

Besides teaching, I love playing sports, reading, scrap booking, and hanging out with friends. My boyfriend Donnie is the son of two SDA teachers who work at Mt. View Academy in northern CA. Donnie and his brother also went to school with our new Associate Pastor, Brandon Stoltz. What a small world!

Ardis Baker Teacher Grades K-2

My name is Ardis Baker.  I was born in Ransom, KS.  Through the years my family moved on to Lincoln, NE, Boulder, CO and then to Bemidji, MN.  I went to academy at Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, MN.  During the summers I first learned my love for teaching working as an instructor and counselor at North Star Camp.

I recieved my BS in Elementary Education with minors in Art/Music and Social Science at Union College in Lincoln, NE.  I am certified to teach grades 1-8 and Bible, History, Music, and Art through 10th grade.  I love music but my talents are limited for I play by ear.  This does come in handy for worship in my classroom.

My first teaching job was in Bishop, CA where I taught grades 1-4.  I also taught reading for grades 5 and 6 and gymnastics for grades 1-8.  Since then, I have taught at Long Beach, CA, Reno, NV, and now Simi Valley.  My favorite grades to teach have always been the lower grades.  My favorite areas are reading and math.  I love to see students grow in learning and gain understanding in new ways.

During my summers I worked on my Professional Certificate completing it in 2001.  My husband Bart, and kids Justin and James have enjoyed living in this area.  Bart is a Respiratory Therapist at St. Johns Pleasant Valley Hospital.  Justin and James attened all four years at Newbury Park Adventist Academy.  Justin has now graduated from La Sierra University (June, 2008)and James attended Pacific Union College his Freshman year, then joined the Marines in September 2005.  He is now stationed in San Diego, CA.
